The Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce announces the winners of the 2010 Excellence Awards Honoring the Region’s Small Businesses – the most esteemed honor bestowed on small businesses in the Greater Philadelphia region.

"This year, it is especially relevant for the Chamber to celebrate the spirit of entrepreneurship," said Chamber President & CEO Rob Wondering. "These winners' inspirational stories and successes reflect the promise and energy of our entrepreneurial culture. We are proud to turn the spotlight on the perseverance, diversity and economic impact of our region’s small business community."

Nominated by their peers throughout our 11-county region, the awards are presented in 10 categories:

The 2010 Excellence Awards are sponsored by Bank of America (emerging business award), Delaware Valley Industrial Resource Center (manufacturer), Firstrust (family business), Microsoft and SecurElement (technological), Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation (green business), PNC (retailer), Sovereign Bank (non-profit), Susquehanna Bank (small business person of the year), UPS (young entrepreneur) and Verizon Wireless (customer service).

This year’s awardees join the ranks of many notable past winners, including Di Bruno Brothers, Gia Pronto, PA General Store, PhillyCarShare, and The Hub.

In recent years, the Visionary Award was established as a tribute to significant leadership – honoring outstanding companies in the region that continue to thrive and support the small business community and its contributions to the Greater Philadelphia economy. This year’s award will be presented to The Vanguard Group, with the support of Stradley Ronon.

The regional business community is invited to join us as current and past winners, event sponsors, and other business leaders celebrate the 27th Annual Excellence Awards at the Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Philadelphia on Thursday, November 5, 2009. The event features a cocktail reception, dinner, dancing and networking in a magnificent, spacious setting overlooking the Delaware River.
