Magee Rehabilitation Hospital’s ThinkFirst Program to Co-Host Anti Gun Violence Walk/Roll April 11

Run, walk and roll to strengthen your limbs and oppose illegal handguns in Philadelphia.

Magee Rehabilitation Hospital’s Think First Program-- which teaches kids and young adults to think first before engaging in risky behavior—and Physicians for Social Responsibility (PSR) will co-host the 4th annual Legs Against Arms 5k Run on Sunday, April 11, 2010 at St. Joes University.

Race registration is at 7am and the race starts at 8:30am at 54th and Overbrook Avenue.

In 2009, over 500 runners making up 10 teams particiapted.

In 2010, over 24 teams are expected to register.

Participants from local high schools, medical staff and families are among the teams registered and several wheelchair teams are signed up to participate.

The Philadelphia International Flower Show will feature a new exhibit that showcases the use of plants and flowers in a therapeutic context.

Horticultural Therapy Network, Passport to Healing: Horticultural Therapy around the World will be located in the “Non-Academic” Section of the Flower Show.

And Magee Rehabilitation Hospital’s Horticultural Therapy Program is pitching in.
