Relay: Your position, our advocacy

Relay: your position, our advocacy is the Chamber’s new advocacy campaign to develop a broader advocacy network surrounding four key issue-areas:

  1. Business Climate
  2. Infrastructure
  3. Workforce
  4. Quality of Life

This initiative will be a sustained, multi-year effort to advance our region’s ability to attract, retain and grow jobs.

We call this initiative Relay because it implies a circuit of information between you and us (the Chamber and our affiliates). Together, we will advocate for business-friendly legislation and policies. As the premier advocate for free enterprise in Greater Philadelphia, we know we are most effective when our priorities reflect the sentiments of the region’s entire business community- from large corporations to small businesses and start-up entrepreneurs.

Our first step in this campaign was to solicit feedback, so we created an online survey which was sent in the fall to more than 40,000 decision-makers throughout the region. We reached out to our members and affiliates, prospective members, industry associations and local chambers, to identify their positions. Once we have compiled and analyzed the results, we will continue our advocacy for workable reform based on core principles shared by the business community.

We are currently reaching out to City stakeholders to talk about job creation and the barriers to success.

Over the next few months, the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and African-American Chamber of Commerce will host a series of town-hall style discussions in each of Philadelphia’s 10 City Council Districts.

The purpose of these meetings is to develop a meaningful dialogue about how we can rekindle an entrepreneurial spirit in the city that will enhance job growth and economic opportunities for all residents and businesses.
