The CEO Council for Growth (CEO Council) is a group of key business executives committed to growth and prosperity in the 11-county region across northern Delaware, southern New Jersey and southeastern Pennsylvania. Through high-impact initiatives designed to stimulate jobs and new business opportunities, the CEO Council pursues a focused, consistent and sustained effort to expand the Greater Philadelphia region. The CEO Council is an affiliate of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with the New Castle County Chamber of Commerce and other area chambers.
The CEO Council's vision is to make the Greater Philadelphia region one of America's top business locations. The CEO Council works to:
- Overcome regional fragmentation;
- Promote Greater Philadelphia as an important place to do business; and
- Advocate for policies to improve the area as a place to live and work.
The CEO Council provides focus and leadership to improve the region's transportation infrastructure, assure a steady and talented supply of quality workers, foster the culture of entrepreneurship and accelerate the commercialization of the region's intellectual property. During the 2012 Fiscal Year the CEO Council will continue its robust advocacy with a focus on the following priorities:
Infrastructure
- Capacity enhancements at the Philadelphia International Airport
- Multi-year reauthorization of the Surface Transportation Act
- Improved mobility and transit expansion along the US 422 Corridor
- Amtrak funding and improvements to the Northeast Corridor
- Regional Transit funding and service expansion
Human Capital
- Advocate for the preservation of core Pell Grant funding to support access to Higher Education
- Convene partners to implement a shared regional talent strategy, and action plan
- Coordinate Greater Philadelphia's participation in Talent Dividend Prize
- Foster dialogue and facilitate collaboration between Higher Education and Business leaders
Commercialization and Technology Transfer
- Advocate for increased resources for research, proof of concept, early stage and new venture formation
- Convene stakeholders and facilitate a planning process to formulate a strategy and actionable tactics to achieve the region's entrepreneurial potential
- Celebrate innovation and entrepreneurial success
- Map and promote our region's entrepreneurial resources
