NJDEP to Enforce Community Right to Know Reporting by Levying Penalties

PNC ARTS ALIVE GRANTS $1 MILLION TO 21 ORGANIZATIONS

Family art making in underserved communities and a Philadelphia film festival for children are among the innovative programs funded today by the PNC Foundation through PNC Arts Alive. Eighteen arts organizations and three service partners received grants of a combined $1 million in the fifth year of PNC Arts Alive.

“The creativity of Philadelphia’s arts sector is clearly evident in the innovative programs by PNC Arts Alive grantees” said Bill Mills, PNC regional president for Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. “We set out to make the arts more accessible and challenged arts groups to help people experience art in new ways—to engage them now and in the future. The region’s performing arts community has delivered.”

PNC Arts Alive has awarded more than 120 grants totaling $5 million to more than 55 arts organizations in the Greater Philadelphia/Southern New Jersey region.

CASA's I Am For the Child Campaign

Last year approximately 4,100 children were removed from their homes because of abuse and neglect and placed in Philadelphia’s foster care system. In honor of National Foster Care Month, CASA is raising awareness about our city’s foster children and the important role CASA volunteers have advocating for them. CASA is a volunteer-powered network of committed people who believe society has a fundamental obligation to make sure the basic rights and essential needs of these children do not get overlooked or ignored by the system. We are people just like you who believe every child has the right to be treated with dignity, to be safe, and to thrive in the embrace of a loving family.

MTM LinguaSoft Translates PHLCVB's New Website

Last week the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau (PHLCVB) announced the official launch of its new convention and international visitor website, http://www.discoverPHL.com. Philadelphia language services company and GPCC member MTM LinguaSoft handled the website translation for the versions of the site that are available in French, German, Spanish, and Portuguese.

The website was developed using the open source content management system (CMS) Umbraco, and MTM LinguaSoft worked closely with the staff at PHLCVB and digital agency MMGY Global, the site developer, to establish the most efficient translation process.

Pritchard Elected Vice Chairman of the Montgomery County Industrial Development Authority Board of Directors

Eric Pritchard, a partner in the Business and Finance Department at Kleinbard Bell & Brecker LLP, was recently elected to serve as Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Montgomery County Industrial Development Authority (“IDA”).

The IDA assists companies in Montgomery County finance projects with money secured from private sector financial institutions. Through the IDA, the county seeks to maintain employment and create business opportunities in the county.

Philadelphia Visitor Center Announces New Sponsors

The Visitor Center signed new sponsors including Starr Restaurants, The Bourse, National Constitution Center, Philadelphia Zoo, Philadelphia's Mural Arts Program and national sponsors Amtrak, Lysol and Broadway's musical Wicked.

Two and a half million tourists begin their trip at the Visitor Center each year. Sponsors recognized the value in using the Visitor Center to reach a wide demographic.

"The travel season is upon us and this year it's expected to be a busy travel season in Philadelphia" commented Angelo Scialfa of Fox Run Group, the company that sells sponsorships and advertising in the Visitor Center.
