Junior Achievement Company Program Prepares Tomorrow's Business Leaders

Posted to Volunteer Opportunity by Ms. Melissa Shapiro of Junior Achievement of Delaware Valley, Inc. at 11:41 AM

Junior Achievement Company Program Prepares Tomorrow’s Business Leaders

Junior Achievement (JA) is the world’s largest financial literacy non-profit, bringing economic education to children from Kindergarten through 12th grade. JA serves 18,000 students in the Greater Philadelphia region. Launching in the fall each academic year, the JA Company after-school program is an exciting opportunity for students to create and run their own business, while being mentored by business professionals. High school students from across the region hold weekly meetings at various corporate host sites to experience what it takes to own a small business.

JA needs your help to meet the demand for our programs. Our turnkey JA Company volunteer experience can support leadership development and employee morale for your employees. Would you like to change the course of a young person’s life? Please contact Paul Kappel, Jr., President at 610-230-3380 or paul.kappel@ja.org for more information.

WorkReady Summer Professional Development Facilitator

Posted to Volunteer Opportunity by Mr. Festo Okidi of Philadelphia Youth Network at 3:13 PM

Philadelphia youth want to work…here’s how you can help!

If investing in the future of Philadelphia’s youth and workforce interests you, consider volunteering to be a Facilitator for WorkReady Summer 2012’s Internship Professional Development Series. The weekly series is designed to prepare young interns, high school juniors through first-year college students, with the skills and resources necessary to successfully complete their WorkReady summer internship.

Each summer, young people in Philadelphia are able to explore how their interests and skills can translate into future careers through WorkReady Summer Internships. Last year, over 5,300 young people participated in WorkReady Summer programs; more than 1,000 of them were supported by local companies. This cross-sector partnership is endorsed by the business community and city leadership. AND it’s a great way to develop our region’s future leaders by supporting today’s youth.
