Penn MES Lecture Series: The Solution to Pollution Is Dilution. Or Is it?

Posted to Event by Ms. Lisa Ben-Shoshan of University of Pennsylvania at 5:39 PM

Nov 9 2010 -
5:30pm-7:00pm

Environmental Studies are more valuable than ever. Join the University of Pennsylvania's Master of Environmental Studies Program Director, Yvette Bordeaux, and special guest speakers for a lecture series on environmental issues.

The oceans have been a convenient dumping ground for humans for thousands of years, but plastic has only been a part of the waste stream since the 1950s. Where does it go? Some of it ends up as an island of plastic the size of Rhode Island floating in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. What is being done to address this growing international problem?

At the close of the lecture, Dr. Bordeaux will discuss how the Master of Environmental Studies, offered through the University of Pennsylvania's College of Liberal and Professional Studies, can provide the tools to address these and other environmental issues in the future.
