Sometimes the greatest challenge a cancer patient faces is getting to their treatments. That's why the American Cancer Society and PhillyCarShare have partnered together for PhillyPatientRide, a program that provides free transportation to patients who may have no other way of getting to their life-saving appointments.
Volunteers will be trained and have access to PhillyCarShare's fleet of vehicles to use to provide transportation to participating area hospitals and treatment centers.

Interested volunteers need only a valid driver's license, a safe driving record, a few hours per month and the drive to make a difference in the lives of cancer patients here in Philadelphia. For more information contact Jamie McCann at Jamie.mccann@cancer.org or visit www.phillypatientride.org.

Register Today For Making Strides Against Breast Cancer! The American Cancer Society is now taking registrations for the 11th annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. Join the walk to honor survivors and raise money for breast cancer research, education, advocacy, patient services, and community partnership grants. Sunday, October 10, 2010
Registration Opens: 7:30 am, Opening Ceremony: 8:30 am, Walk Start: 9:00 am
Philadelphia Museum of Art – 26th Street and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway
Fundraising Information: Walkers can participate as individuals or as a part of a team. Each walker is encouraged to raise the recommended fundraising minimum of $100 to benefit the American Cancer Society. In 2008, the Philadelphia BasketBall brought over 550 fans together to raise over $600,000 in one extraordinary evening. In Philly, Coaches Fran Dunphy (Temple), Phil Martelli (Saint Joe's), Bruiser Flint (Drexel), John Giannini (La Salle), Glen Miller (UPenn) and Jay Wright (Villanova) are dedicated to raising funds so that the American Cancer Society can continue its mission to prevent cancer, save lives and diminish suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy, and service.
Hosted by the 'first couples' of Philadelphia college basketball, this is truly a unique event. The impressive crowd of Philadelphia’s business leaders and decision makers provides a powerful compliment to the passion and excitement of the Philadelphia Coaches.
