Cara Feldman joins AHA as Heart Ball,Go Red admin

Cara Feldman joins the Philadelphia team as the Administrative Associate supporting Heart Ball and Go Red. Cara joined AHA as an intern with Heart Ball and Go Red last spring. Through her previous internships and student leadership experiences Cara was involved in event planning, fundraising and healthy lifestyle promotion. Cara earned her Bachelor’s degree in Public Health from Syracuse University.

Leslee Maybrown is Go Red bound

Leslee Maybrown is the new director of the Go Red for Women campaign. Her roles over the last 10 years have built an impressive repertoire in fundraising, event/project management, marketing, corporate training and sales. Leslee holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management from The Ohio State University.

Charmie Cuthbert joins the Heart Association

Charmie Cuthbert joined the American Heart Association as Community Health Director. Charmie is an experienced AHA staffer who served in a similar role as Community Relations Manager in the NYC office. She graduated Cum Laude from Trinity University in San Antonio, earned her J.D. degree from Rutgers University School of Law in Camden, NJ and holds a MBA, with honors, from Rutgers; and has studied abroad in London and throughout South Africa.

Kate Balog promoted to Walk Director

Kate Balog has been promoted to Heart Walk Director. Kate began her career at the American Heart Association as an intern and soon was hired as the admin for both Heart Ball and the Go Red For Women campaign. Kate’s enthusiasm and initiative has now joined forces with the existing Heart Walk team, where she will help continue to grow the Heart Walk scope.

Allyson Lindauer joins the AHA as new Walk Director

Allyson Lindauer has joined the American Heart Association as Philadelphia’s newest Heart Walk Director. Allyson comes to AHA from the YMCA of West Chester where she has worked since 2008 and serves as Director of Corporate Partnerships and Special Events, with responsibility for community fundraising events. Allyson has great experience from the Y and QVC, and will finally complete the new Walk team

Chantelle Fitzgerald has been promoted to the Philadelphia Society Director position of the American Heart Association. Formerly, she held the title of Director, Go Red For Women. She brings a great strength in networking and cultivating individuals to the mission of the American Heart Association as well as a passion for engaging individuals in funding the research and education of the AHA. Chantelle will be focused on cultivating and securing individuals to become Cor Vitae members with the AHA as well as working with Heart Ball, Heart Walk and Go Red For Women individual donors to become Cor Vitae members.

Victoria L. Vetter, MD, MPH, MSHP is receiving the American Heart Association's Edward S. Cooper, MD Award at Heart Ball 2013 in February. This award is presented to a physician, researcher or medical professional whose many outstanding contributions to the Philadelphia community exemplify the best of humankind. The award is named for Dr. Edward S. Cooper, a world renowned physician and a pioneer in hypertension and stroke and the first African American to serve as national president of the American Heart Association.

Mercy CEO to Chair 2012 Philadelphia Heart Walk

Kathryn C. Conallen, RN, MSHSA, and CEO of Mercy Catholic Medical Center (comprising the 213-bed Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby, PA and the 214-bed Mercy Philadelphia Hospital in West Philadelphia) is the Chair of the American Heart Association's 2012 Philadelphia Heart Walk.

Ms. Conallen has been with Mercy for 30 years. She has served in roles including nurse administrator, Vice President and Chief of Nursing and Chief Operating Officer at Mercy Philadelphia. She was named Chief Executive Officer of Mercy Philadelphia in 2005 and then Chief Executive Officer of Mercy Fitzgerald in 2011.

In her role as Heart Walk Chair, she will supervise the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) as they recruit new companies and obtain sponsors and provide assistance to achieve development goals.

Philadelphia Heart Walk will take place on Sunday, November, 4 at Citizens Bank Park.

15th Annual Richie Ashburn Jr. Memorial Home Runs For Heart

Join the American Heart Association and the Philadelphia Phillies for the 15th annual Home Runs For Heart two-day derby contest on May 1 and 2 from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. at Citizens Bank Park. This event is held in honor of Hall of Famer Richie Ashburn, who died suddenly of a heart attack in 1997. In addition, we also honor the memory of Harry Kalas, longtime Phillies announcer, who passed away of heart disease in 2009. Individual participation-$400, teams of four-$1500. Come meet the Phanatic, take a tour of the Park, participate in a silent auction and meet the Phillies Ball Girls. Heart disease is the number one killer of Americans. That’s why the AHA wants you to bring your family and swing for the fences while you help us strike out heart disease and stroke.
