The idea of “gaming” may bring to mind images of young men and women reclining in front of their tvs or computers, controllers in hand, entranced by the screen; but gaming is more than a hobby—it’s a business model.
“Gamification” is a term used to describe the process of applying practices from the gaming world to the business world. For example, games use competition, levels of achievement and rewards to drive players to work toward a goal. Picture gamers sitting in front of their screens—they are totally immersed, and the drive to succeed comes from within. We rarely see that type of concentration at work. Using gamification, these ideas can be applied to help reinvigorate your workplace or business strategy, no matter what field you work in, be it retail, finance, or nonprofit—the opportunities are endless.
