Earlier this week, along the banks of the Schuylkill River, a September 11th Memorial was dedicated to provide a permanent reminder of the courage and sacrifice witnessed eleven years ago. The new Philadelphia landmark was commemorated by the honorable Mayor of Philadelphia Michael Nutter, Deputy Mayor Michael DiBerardinis and Fire Commissioner Lloyd Ayers. A steel beam from the World Trade Center is the focal point of the monument, which serves to honor those who lost their lives, including three Philadelphians, and the families affected by the tragic loss.
Like so many public endeavors, it took a dedicated team of supporters, who donated their time at little or no cost, to bring this project to fruition. It was a privilege for Torcon to lend assistance to the planning and construction of the monument along with many others.
As years continue to pass, the Memorial will stand as a constant reminder of those we will never forget.
