2013 Advocacy Training Program
Saving Lives Not Someday, But Today
Conshohocken, PA (April 10, 2013) – Today, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s® (LLS) Office of Public Policy (OPP) is the voice for all blood cancer patients, driving legislative polices to accelerate the development and approval of new treatments to ensure access to quality care. OPP works with volunteer advocates across the United States to rally grassroots efforts to promote issues that impact cancer research and to ensure patients have access to quality affordable health care.
The Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter along with the Office of Public Policy will be hosting an educational program about the role that grassroots advocates play in finding a cure for blood cancers on Tuesday, May 21st at the Wistar Institute (3601 Spruce Street) in Philadelphia from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s® 2013 Advocacy Training Program will feature federal and state legislators, research scientists, and LLS’s Office of Public Policy staff. The program includes the following renowned speakers:

• Alison Loren, M.D., MS, Assistant Professor of Medicine – Abramson Cancer Center, Penn Medicine
• Mark Velleca, M.D., Ph.D., Chief Policy and Advocacy Officer – The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society®
• Maida R. Milone, Executive Director - The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society®, Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter
