On The Move to Kick off in September
Ready to kick off its eighth year, the On The Move campaign engages more than 200 enthusiastic Chamber volunteers from corporate teams in an 11-week campaign to enhance existing Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce services and help create new programs for large and small businesses alike. Corporate volunteers from throughout Greater Philadelphia work with Chamber staff to raise additional revenue by selling Chamber memberships, sponsorships, and other Chamber products. Throughout the years, our On The Move volunteers have helped us raise more than $10 million, thereby putting us in the position to dramatically improve Chamber programming and, in turn, help greater Philadelphia’s businesses. And this year, under the leadership of J. William Mills III and Tara Weiner, GPCC hopes to reach and exceed its $2 million campaign goal.
Mr. Mills, President, PNC Bank, Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey was selected as the incoming Chairman of the On The Move campaign. Already an active member of the Executive Committee of the GPCC Board of Directors and head of one of the largest diversified financial services companies in the nation, Mr. Mills' trusted leadership was the perfect compliment to the GPCC annual fundraising initiative.
“In order for the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce to continue to prosper, we need new members who are committed to this region. The On The Move campaign is a proven method of bringing new members and revenue into the Chamber’s ranks. Volunteers not only help to strengthen membership but also get an opportunity to work hand-in-hand with business leaders in the community,” said Mr. Mills.
Enthusiastically contributing to the communities that PNC serves, Mr. Mills actively participates as Chairman of The Philadelphia Museum of Art's corporate executive board, and as a member of the executives boards of The City of Philadelphia's Children's Commission, Temple University Health System Board of Overseers, Temple University President's Advisory Board, the Gesu School, the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society Executive Committee, the Thomas Shelton Harrison Foundation and the Police Athletic League Emeritus.
On The Move also welcomes Tara Weiner, Managing Partner, Greater Philadelphia Region Senior Consumer Business Leader, Deloitte & Touche USA LLP as the 2006 OTM Executive Vice Chair. With more than 29 years of proven experience, Ms. Weiner has a distinguished record of success as a strategic advisor helping senior executives create measurable value and deal with issues of importance to their businesses. As a spokesperson, she has been widely quoted in the media and is a frequent speaker at conferences. Tara previously served as the National Managing Partner of the Consumer Business Industries Practice at Deloitte & Touche USA LLP, a national practice with more than 6,000 professionals that provides audit, tax, financial advisory and consulting services to retailers, consumer product manufacturers, travel, hospitality, leisure and consumer service companies. Ms. Weiner is also a member of the GPCC Board of Directors and Select Greater Philadelphia’s CEO Council for Growth.
