Forum for Women in the Workforce

Women in the Workforce focuses on the success of women business leaders in Philadelphia and the potential that women in all career levels can achieve.

Join the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce on Friday, February 23, as six prominent female executives gather at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown to share their valuable experiences in networking, self-promotion, self-branding and mentoring.

Following a brief keynote introduction and program overview by Barbara Taylor, Partner, JanBara & Associates, panelists will share their career histories, personal experiences, and professional ambitions through a 20-minute rapid-fire question-and-answer session. The panelists will then rotate among small groups of attendees, providing more in-depth information and insight.

The distinguished panelists are Renee Amoore, President, The Amoore Group; Terry D'Alessandro, Market C.E.O., Sovereign Bank; Karen Buchholz, VP, Administration, Comcast Corporation; Meryl Levitz, President & C.E.O., Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corporation; Judith Mondre, President, Mondre Energy, Inc.; and Christine Serenelli, President, SUNRx.

The women featured in the program have overcome obstacles facing woman professionals in order to become effective and inspiring leaders in both their organizations and the community.

Women are still vastly underrepresented in the business world. Only 10—two percent—of Fortune 500 companies have female CEOs, and a total of 20 FORTUNE 1000 companies have women in the top job.1 At the average growth rate over the past ten years (.82 percentage points per year), it will take 40 years for women to reach parity with men in corporate officer ranks.

Building the strongest workforce in Greater Philadelphia requires employers to broaden the pool of talented workers in the region by increasing the number of women.

Forums like Women in the Workforce are important for encouraging the exchange of ideas and knowledge, teaching females how to leverage their strengths, supporting women in corporate leadership roles, and inspiring female professionals to realize their potential.
