2007 MAC Institute, May 24

MAC Institute is a half-day series of educational classes designed to provide investors attorneys, accountants, lenders and business advisors with a greater understanding of private equity investing and the critical issues facing their portfolio companies.  Through interactive case studies, moderated panels, and valuable networking, this hallmark educational program offers meaningful content and in-depth analysis for today's seasoned professional.  The MAC Institute will include sessions on: 

• Leadership Assessment:  What Do Investors Want and What Do Executives Need To Succeed In Private Equity Portfolio Company Leadership Roles?

• Practical Guide to the New World of Valuation:  What Companies and their Advisors Absolutely Need To Know About the New World of Valuation

• Human Capital Metrics:  Are there really strategic Human Capital metrics that investors and portfolio company CEOs and CFOs might find useful?

• Structuring For Your Exit at the Time of Investment:  Creating flexibility for Exit Opportunities at the time of a Fund's initial investment or acquisition can greatly enhance the return to the Fund's Partners.

• Keynote Speaker Fred Sherman, Chief Economist, Royal Bank America:  With more than just a distinctive voice with a distinctive sign-off, Fred Sherman is a veteran radio and TV broadcaster and a knowledgeable commentator on the investment scene. Mr Sherman brings high energy and extensive insight to his daily stock market commentaries on KYW Newsradio 1060.  Mr. Sherman will talk about the capital markets -- healthy and weak sectors, funds flows and market trends.

20th Annual MAC Alliance Awards Luncheon, June 7

The MAC Alliance Awards Luncheon is the culmination of our program year, attracting over 500 of the private equity and entrepreneurial community's key leaders and players.  This event celebrates entrepreneurial, investor, and professional achievement, and it will be held on June 7, from 11.30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Philadelphia, at Penn’s Landing.

The MAC Alliance Awards honor three individuals who have made a significant impact on the Greater Philadelphia private equity community.  This year’s event will honor:

• Matt Gillin, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder, Ecount, recipient of the Walter M. Aikman Entrepreneur Of The Year Award;
• Donald C. Graham, Chairman, The Graham Group, recipient of the Raymond Rafferty Entrepreneurial Excellence Award; and
• Barry M. Abelson, Senior Partner, Pepper Hamilton LLP, recipient of Blair Thompson Lifetime Venture Award.
