Chamber Appoints New ‘On The Move’ Campaign Chairman

William R. Sasso, Esq., chairman of Stradley Ronon, was recently selected as the incoming chairman of the On The Move campaign.

Kicking off its ninth year, On the Move is an 11-week fundraising campaign that relies on volunteers from member companies to help strengthen the economic vitality of the Chamber and the Greater Philadelphia region.

"I look forward to working with all of the On the Move volunteers to reach the fundraising goal," Mr. Sasso said. "Like everyone involved in the campaign, I am devoted to improving our great region. In order for us to do this, we must continuously work towards building a stronger Chamber."

As a former chairman of the GPCC Board of Directors and a current member of the Executive Committee of the Board, Mr. Sasso’s trusted leadership was the perfect complement to the Chamber’s fundraising initiative, according to Mark Schweiker, GPCC president & CEO.

"Bill Sasso’s involvement guarantees that our On The Move campaign will be a success," said Mr. Schweiker. "His enthusiasm for an important project like this is infectious and I know the professionals who participate in On The Move will enjoy getting to know him better as well."

Mr. Sasso has been chairman of Stradley Ronon, one of the region’s most influential law firms with seven offices in the Greater Philadelphia region, Harrisburg, and Washington, D.C., since 1994. As chairman, he is primarily responsible for oversight and management of more than 180 attorneys.

Mr. Sasso was named a "Pennsylvania Super Lawyer" in the June 2007, 2006, 2005 and 2004 editions of Philadelphia Magazine, by a vote of his peers. He was also the 2006 William Penn Award recipient, the highest honor bestowed upon a business person in Greater Philadelphia. Awarded annually since 1949, recipients are chosen for their outstanding contributions toward the betterment of the region, their professional accomplishments, and their commitment to charity as well as to the community.

In addition, Mr. Sasso is widely recognized for his civic accomplishments. He currently is a member of the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau board and executive committee, serves as a member of the Chamber’s Paradigm Award Committee, which honors the outstanding business woman of the year, and is a trustee of his alma mater LaSalle University, among many other commitments.

Mr. Sasso succeeds last year’s On The Move chairman, J. William Mills, III, President, PNC Bank, Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey.
