Looking for a Guaranteed ROI? Get Involved
with the Arts & Business Council
A small investment of your time could make all the difference in the world to a nonprofit arts and cultural organization. It could also help you sharpen your business and consulting skills and contribute to the overall economic vitality of the Greater Philadelphia Region and its dynamic arts sector.
Here’s how it works: Each year, business professionals like you participate in the Business Volunteers for the Arts (BVA) program of the Arts & Business Council and help at least 50 small to mid-sized arts organizations improve their business planning, management practices and operations — one project at a time, one success story after another. BVA projects cover a range of business disciplines — from strategic and business planning to human resources and organizational development; from marketing and public relations to finance and accounting.
After completing a one-day BVA leadership training class, you would be carefully matched with a well-defined project for an arts and cultural organization that needs your skills and aligns with your interests. Council staff provides support throughout each project and resources to help you succeed.
Volunteer consultants consistently find that their work with arts organizations provides insights and skill development they can bring back to the office. You will discover new art forms, new venues and new neighborhoods in and around the region. And you’ll make connections with other like-minded business people by participating in the leadership training and in year-round networking events for Council volunteers. Yes, this ROI is guaranteed.
The next BVA leadership training class will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2009, at offices the of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce. If you’d like to learn more, contact BVA program director Eileen Cunniffe at ecunniffe@artsandbusinessphila.org or 215-790-3621.
