Tantalizing Tastes of Chile
To celebrate another successful year of commercial trade between Chile and the Delaware River region, the Chilean and American Chamber of Commerce is pleased to present its 4th Annual "Experience the Taste of Chile" dinner on Tuesday, April 28 at the University and Whist Club in Wilmington, DE, featuring guest speaker Lori Tieszen, executive director of Wines of Chile USA.
The annual dinner will feature a menu showcasing Chilean gourmet products, including olive oils, spices, fruits, cheeses and other delicious flavors, all paired with elegant yet powerful "wines of Chile."
The Republic of Chile and the Greater Philadelphia region have a long history. Our region has become Chile's gateway into the U.S. market, with 65% of all Chilean fruit imports arriving through our Delaware River waterfront. Not only has this relationship provided many delectable goods, it has created thousands of jobs for the region. With a growing season opposite the U.S., Chilean peaches, cherries and grapes have become a welcome and familiar sight during the cold winter months.
Adding to the celebration, the Chamber is delighted to host Lori Tieszen as the guest speaker of this year’s dinner. As the executive director of Wines of Chile USA, Lori leads the U.S. promotional body that represents 80 Chilean wineries in coordination with two other offices in Santiago and London.
Wines of Chile USA was founded in July 2002 to position Chile as the source of fine wine around the world. Currently, Chile ranks as the fifth-largest wine exporter to the U.S. Through strategic marketing and promotional activities, Lori focuses the group’s program to promote trade, continue the growth of Chilean wine sales, and build its image of quality with the public.
As Latin American food products continue to ride the wave of success, Chile is poised to deliver with a variety of unique and all-natural food products. Chile is one of the fastest growing food exporters in the world. Ranked 17th amongst the world's leading food exporting countries, Chile has become a major player in the global food arena. Chile supplies more than 150 countries around the world with foods and beverages including fruits, vegetables, seafood, wine, meat and poultry, dairy products, olive and avocado oils, and other specialty items. At its current growth rate, Chile is predicted to be among the top 10 food exporters by 2010.
