Rethinking Philadelphia: Metro Nation
With the issues and challenges of urban centers the subject of new federal attention, the 2009 Rethinking Philadelphia program will examine the effects of President Obama’s urban policy plans on the Greater Philadelphia region. It takes place on Tuesday, April 28 7:30 – 9:30 a.m. at the Union League of Philadelphia’s Lincoln Hall on South Broad Street in Center City.
Similar to the format of a town hall meeting, Rethinking Philadelphia: Metro Nation invites Chamber members, regional leaders, and concerned citizens to discuss Philadelphia’s future.
The program will feature a panel of city officials and economic leaders who will explore how Greater Philadelphia can leverage its strengths and resources to position itself as a national leader among metropolitan regions. Specifically, we will discuss infrastructure and transportation, the emerging "green" sector, and job creation.
Panelists include Andrew Altman, Director of Commerce & Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, City of Philadelphia; Peter Fontaine, Co-Chair, Energy, Environmental & Public Utility, Cozen O’Connor; Amy Liu, Deputy Director, Metropolitan Policy Program, Brookings; and Steven T. Wray, Executive Director, Economy League of Greater Philadelphia.
In addition, the program’s co-producer, the Philadelphia Daily News, will produce a supplement which will complement and reinforce these important issues.
Rethinking Philadelphia: Metro Nation is presented in partnership with the Philadelphia Daily News. The program is sponsored by Cozen O’Connor and CIGNA.
