Free Chamber Networking Events Really Pay Off

If you are missing Business After Hours (one of the many free Chamber networking events), you are missing one of the greatest benefits of your Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce membership. From the warm greeting as you enter to the last hand you shake on your way out, these events provide endless opportunities to meet new people, stay connected and to increase awareness about your business.

I attended my first event shortly after Lucky Strike Lanes opened in 2006. As a new venue, it was important for us to introduce ourselves to the business community and learn more about our peers. While the host venue was beautiful and the food was tempting, I was most impressed by the dynamic and diverse group of people in attendance. Because I was new to networking, I was a bit intimidated by the thought of meeting so many new people. I was quickly put to ease by the energy that filled the room. The mix of lawyers, accountants, entrepreneurs and every other type of professional encompassed the unique spirit of Philadelphia’s business community and provided interesting and thoughtful conversation the entire night. Before I knew it, the event was over and I was walking away with new business leads, lunch appointments that have since turned into clients and great friends.

Three years later and I am still a fan, not only because of the great connections I have made but because of the great value. With the economy being such a "hot topic," the Business After Hours event series is even more important for the development of relationships in the Philadelphia business community. A lot of times, budgets for mixers, events and networking opportunities are the first to be cut. The complimentary nature of these events makes them a fantastic alternative to more costly options without compromising the quality of attendees.

While the savings and the business opportunities are worth it alone, the fun factor is another great reason to fit Business After Hours into your schedule. These events are a great way to let off some steam after a long day in the office. While you will share best practices you will also share several laughs and great stories along the way.
