The Momentum Continues to Build for the 2009 Mid-Atlantic Capital (MAC) Conference
The Mid-Atlantic Capital (MAC) Alliance is pleased to announce two additions to the Technology and Services speaker line-up: Fred Beste, CEO of the general partners of the Mid-Atlantic Venture Funds (MAVF), and Jim Mackey, Head of Corporate Development, SAP AG.
Fred Beste has spent his entire career in the venture capital industry, beginning in 1968. He joined Mid-Atlantic Venture Funds (MAVF) in 1984 as the founding President and Chief Executive Officer of its first general partner. MAVF is comprised of four venture capital limited partnerships totaling approximately $200 million in capital. The funds focus on seed and start-up stage investments, primarily in technology-based companies located in the mid-Atlantic. Since 2008, he has also served as Partner Emeritus/shareholder of the general partner of Originate Ventures, a $50 million venture fund targeted at investing in early stage technology companies, primarily in Pennsylvania.
Jim Mackey is head of Corporate Development, responsible for all mergers and acquisitions (M&A) globally, as well as core finance activities such as valuations and the administration of minority investments. He reports to John Schwarz, member of the Executive Board of SAP AG. Mackey joined SAP in 2000 as corporate counsel of SAP America, focusing on M&A and strategic alliances. Prior to becoming the head of Corporate Development, he held the position of director of Corporate Business Development.
Fred Beste and Jim Mackey will participate in sessions in the MAC Conference’s Technology and Services track — sessions focused on topics and issues critical to the MAC Alliance community. We look forward to hosting them at the 2009 MAC Conference.
