Cricket Cares: Cricket Wireless Gives Back with Rebuilding Together Philly
Submitted by: Marquis Avery, Sales & Marketing Specialist, Cricket Communications
Cricket announced a great endeavor as the anchor sponsor for Rebuilding Together Philadelphia! Our first of many events was an extreme success as it required Cricket employees to give back by volunteering their time and talents to a wonderful project with Rebuilding Together Philadelphia and HGTV! Cricket and RTB went into this venture together with one theme and goal in mind, “building a community,” which will manifest itself through homeowner repair projects, work at a community facility, and joint promotions.
Our first project was a great success, and gave Cricket employees a chance to give back from the heart and be featured on HGTV special “Change the World: American Heroes.” On June 27th volunteers helped out with minor and major repairs to homes on the 4000 block of Romain Street in Philadelphia, PA. Repairs done by volunteers included landscaping, painting, drywall, and carpentry among many other repairs to beautify the homes. The HGTV crew was on-site filming for the special, which will air on September 11, 2009 to honor United States Veterans. Ginny Levin, a Cricket volunteer had this to say about her participation in the event, “with a family who is extremely involved in the military, it was wonderful to give to the men and women who defend us on a daily basis, and I look forward to seeing the finished product on TV,” she further added that the event “was a lot of hard work and a lot of fun!” This is just one of the many successful events Cricket and Rebuilding Together Philadelphia plan to achieve throughout 2009!
