Here’s how it works: Each year, business professionals like you participate in the Business Volunteers for the Arts (BVA) program of the Arts & Business Council, an affiliate of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, and help at least 50 small to mid-sized arts organizations improve their business planning, management practices and operations—one project at a time, one success story after another. BVA projects cover a range of business disciplines—from strategic and business planning to human resources and organizational development; from marketing and public relations to finance and accounting.

After completing a one-day BVA leadership training class, volunteers are carefully matched by the Council with well-defined projects for arts and cultural organizations. Council staff provides support throughout each project and resources to help you succeed.

Volunteer consultants consistently find that their work with arts organizations provides insights and skill development they can bring back to the office. You will discover new art forms, venues and neighborhoods in and around the region. And you’ll make connections with other like-minded business people by participating in the leadership training and in year-round networking events for Council volunteers.
