You’re invited… Business & Arts Excellence Highlighted with ‘Planet Art’ Theme
Plans are in the works for the 2010 Arts & Business Council of Greater Philadelphia Awards Luncheon to be held on Tuesday, April 27 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center and presented by PNC Arts Alive. This year’s theme: Planet Art.
Known for its dramatic flare and for attracting 1,500 business, arts and civic leaders, the Awards Luncheon recognizes individuals and companies whose partnerships with arts and cultural organizations had an outstanding impact over the past year.
“PNC understands the valuable return that investing in arts organizations can deliver,” said Bill Mills, president of PNC for Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. “We’ve doubled our regional arts investment with the introduction of PNC Arts Alive, our new $5 million, five-year PNC Foundation initiative that supports visual and performing arts organizations throughout the Greater Philadelphia region. PNC is very pleased to partner with the Arts & Business Council of Greater Philadelphia to be this year’s Annual Awards Luncheon presenting sponsor.”
The climax of the luncheon comes with the presentation of the 2010 Anne d’Harnoncourt Award for Artistic Excellence to a national figure whose talents heighten the region’s position as a cultural mecca. In 2009, international choreographer and dancer Judith Jamison, a Philadelphia native, was honored.
“With a theme of Planet Art, I’m looking forward to an event that is out of this world,” says Karen B. Davis, President & CEO of the Arts & Business Council. Since 1985, this Awards Luncheon has celebrated the tremendous work and relationships that develop among business volunteers and our region’s big and small arts and cultural organizations, Davis adds.
Awards will be presented in these categories: Business On Board, Business On Call, Business Volunteer for the Arts, Technology Connectors, Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, Business and Arts Partnerships among small and mid-size to large companies, and the G. Fred DiBona Individual Leadership Award.
The Arts & Business Council of Greater Philadelphia, an affiliate of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, develops relationships between business and the arts for the mutual benefit of both and in support of the advancement of the Greater Philadelphia Region.
