Chamber to Host 2010 Economic Outlook with NBC’s David Gregory

The Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce is pleased to present David Gregory, Moderator of NBC’s "Meet the Press," as the featured speaker of the 12th annual Economic Outlook conference in partnership with Sovereign/Santander. He will discuss his perspective on President Obama’s performance, the political climate in Washington over the past year, and the upcoming midterm election.

The event will take place on Tuesday, February 23, 7:30 – 9:30 a.m. in the Grand Ballroom at the Hyatt at the Bellevue. In addition, the program will look into the region's competitiveness and the issues that will impact the business community in the coming year.

Since joining "Meet the Press" in 2008, Gregory has provided extensive coverage on the latest national issues, including the economy, health care, and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. In addition, he secured the first hour-long interview with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and moderated an entire broadcast dedicated to Senator Ted Kennedy. Before joining "Meet the Press," Gregory served as NBC’s Chief Washington Correspondent, a position he held during the presidency of George W. Bush. Known as the toughest interviewer of President Bush and his press secretaries, Gregory was named one of Washington’s 50 best and most influential journalists by Washington magazine. He was also named the #5 "most used reporter" during nightly newscasts in the past decade, according to the Tyndall Report.

The event also includes a panel discussion with members representing a range of industries, including Bart Blatstein, President & CEO, Tower Investments, Inc.; Joe Davis, Chief Economist, The Vanguard Group; Thomas A. Decker, Esq., President & CEO, Cozen O’Connor; and Gale Given, President, Verizon Pennsylvania, Inc.

This breakfast traditionally attracts about 500 executives from a wide variety of business sectors and features a much-anticipated release of Sovereign/Santander’s economic survey results culled from responses by the regional business community. The goal of the survey is to gain a better perspective on the region’s economic environment and the issues that will impact the business community in the coming year. Economic forecasts will be presented for vital industry sectors in the region, including real estate, health care, energy and defense.

Participate now in the economic survey and share your opinion on the economy of the Greater Philadelphia region.
