Close Encounters of the Creative Kind: Planet Art Awards set for April 27
Just in case you haven’t marked your calendar yet, put a big star on Tuesday, April 27. At 12 noon, the Arts & Business Council of Greater Philadelphia’s annual Awards Luncheon, dubbed Planet Art, will get underway at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
Join our presenting sponsor, PNC Arts Alive, and Bill Mills, President, PNC, Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, as well as 1,500 of our business and arts colleagues from throughout area for an exhilarating voyage to Planet Art.
Event highlights this year include out-of-this-world performances, Jaemi HUBO, Drexel University’s amazing robot, and perhaps a visitor or two from outer space. Before, during and after the event will be an excellent time to network with the greatest stars in our galaxy.
At Planet Art meet the luminous 2010 honorees:
- Philadelphians Denise Scott Brown and Robert Venturi, two of the most renowned architects in the world, who will receive the Anne d’Harnoncourt Award for Artistic Excellence.
- Jeanette Lerman-Neubauer and Joe Neubauer, leaders in both the arts and business sectors, will be recognized with the G. Fred DiBona Jr. Individual Leadership Award.
- Leaders from PECO, the African American Museum in Philadelphia, Calfayan Construction Associates and the Abington Art Center whose respective partnerships define the interdependence of art and business.
- Carolyn Ashburn of Temple University Health System, Business Volunteer for the Arts honoree. Carolyn’s insights led to a record grant for Theatre Horizon in Norristown.
- Jerilyn Dressler, a CPA whose volunteer experience changed the direction of her career. Jerilyn works with Your Part-Time Controller and is this year’s Business On Board honoree.
- Jeffrey P. Bates, Esq. of Marshall Dennehey Warner, Coleman & Goggin is the Philadelphia Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts Volunteer of the Year. His pro bono clients think of him as a lifesaver.
- AstraZeneca’s Jack Pollock, marketing watchdog by day, cultural connoisseur by night and Business On Call honoree.
- Stan Coplan of Aetna, the Technology Connector of the Year, who’s helping singing groups reach higher and higher notes of visibility.
