Chamber to Host 208th Annual Meeting with Featured Speaker Tom Brokaw
Join Chamber President & CEO Mark S. Schweiker and regional business leaders at the Chamber’s 208th Annual Meeting on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia. The event will feature a speech by veteran broadcaster Tom Brokaw.
The Annual Meeting celebrates the Chamber membership of 5,000 organizations across 11 counties in three states. Schweiker will review the past year’s accomplishments and describe opportunities for Greater Philadelphia’s businesses to prosper in the upcoming year. Additionally, he will discuss how the Chamber delivers Real Return, an unbeatable combination of exemplary leadership, access, energy, and service, to our members.
Regional business leaders also will welcome new GPCC Chairman of the Board David L. Cohen, Executive Vice President, Comcast Corporation, and thank outgoing Chairman, Joseph A. Frick, President and CEO of Independence Blue Cross.
More than 1,200 business executives are expected to attend as Brokaw, interim moderator for "Meet the Press" and NBC Special News Correspondent discusses the upcoming Presidential election, the global economy, and his most recent book.
Tom Brokaw, one of the most trusted and respected figures in broadcast journalism, is currently the interim moderator of "Meet the Press" and a NBC News special correspondent. For 21 years until 2004, Brokaw was the anchor and managing editor of "NBC Nightly News." He has received numerous honors, including the Edward R. Murrow Lifetime Achievement Award, the Emmy Award for Lifetime Achievement, and he was inducted as a fellow into the prestigious American Academy of Arts and Sciences. His insight, ability and integrity have earned him a dozen Emmys and two Peabody and duPont awards for his journalistic achievements. In addition, he has written four best-selling books, starting in 1998 with The Greatest Generation.
Attendees will receive a copy of Brokaw’s most recent book Boom! Voices of the Sixties Personal Reflections on the '60s and Today.
