ELKINS PARK, PA, November 12, 2007 - CETRA, Inc. is pleased to announce that its president and CEO, Jiri Stejskal, took over as president of the American Translators Association (ATA), the nation’s largest professional organization for translators and interpreters with more than 10,000 members in 80 countries. Jiri Stejskal, Ph.D., a professional translator and language teacher, founded CETRA, Inc. in 1997. Jiri earned both M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Slavic Languages and Literatures at the University of Pennsylvania, an Executive MBA degree at Temple University. Jiri Stejskal says: “I am delighted to serve the translation and interpretation industry as the ATA leader. Our services tend to be commoditized and it is the Association’s objective to demonstrate that neither translation nor interpretation is a commodity. Just as knowing how to cook doesn't make you a chef, knowing another language doesn't make you a translator. There's lot more to it than that.”
