Stories of Persistence: Building a Business in Greater Philadelphia

8:00 - 8:30 a.m. Registration, Breakfast, and Networking
8:30 - 10:00 a.m. Program

National Museum of American Jewish History
101 South Independence Mall East

Ask an entrepreneur what’s at the core of launching a good idea into a thriving venture and many will cite persistence as a major contributor to their success. At this culminating Small Business Week event, hear the stories behind three successful business owners, each at different stages of growth, as they share the challenges they’ve faced, the opportunities that came along the way, and their unique perspectives on growing a business in the region.

Todd Carmichael, Co-Founder and CEO of La Colombe, will discuss his business’s expansion to cities across the country, how becoming too big can become a liability, and the unique partnership with Chobani as La Colombe’s sole investor moving forward.

Justin Rosenberg, Founder and CEO of Honeygrow, will speak about how being persistent through the numerous “no’s” has led to Honeygrow’s success - now with nine additional locations on the way. He will also emphasize the importance of adapting to technological advancements as a tool that differentiated his business model.

Morgan Snyder, Director of Education and Co-Founder of Sweet Bites Gum, and Forbes 30 Under 30 2016 honoree, will address the challenges of both starting a business as a student and obtaining necessary funding, how Sweet Bites has been recognized and sought after for its focus on social entrepreneurship, and the value of cultivating relationships with partners like the Wharton School of Business, Penn Dental, and others.
